Showcasing Assam’s Heritage to the World: Rakta Sanjeevani Collaborates on National GI Documentary

Assam’s cultural identity is deeply intertwined with its centuries-old traditional crafts, indigenous agricultural varieties, and the dedicated artisans who preserve them. Rakta Sanjeevani is immensely proud to announce our pivotal role as the official local facilitator for a national documentary initiative spearheaded by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, to document and amplify India’s rich registry of Geographical Indications (GI).

Authorized via official government commissioning, a comprehensive documentary crew has been filming across Assam to capture the living heritage of our state’s esteemed GI-tagged products, the generational production techniques behind them, and the vibrant farming and weaving ecosystems that sustain them.

Bridging Filmmakers with Grassroots Realities

As an organization deeply rooted in rural livelihood promotion and community development, Rakta Sanjeevani was officially authorized to coordinate field operations and act as the crucial on-ground bridge for the production team.

Our team has been actively navigating remote weaver clusters, agricultural fields, and production units to ensure the filmmakers gain authentic, seamless access to the heart of Assam’s GI heritage. From providing cultural context and translation to facilitating meaningful interactions with local artisans, we have ensured that Assam’s story is told with absolute accuracy and depth.
