Rakta Sanjeevani Partners with JSS Jorhat to Launch ‘Assistant Hair Dresser’ Vocational Training at Nanda Nath Saikia College

Bridging formal higher education with market-oriented technical skilling is vital for creating sustainable livelihood pathways for youth. In alignment with this mission, Rakta Sanjeevani has officially rolled out a specialized vocational skill development training program for the Hair Dresser job role at Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabar.

This initiative is executed under the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nanda Nath Saikia College and Rakta Sanjeevani, established to drive youth skill incubation, vocational readiness, and self-employment. To ensure industry-aligned curriculum delivery and certification, Rakta Sanjeevani has partnered with Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), Jorhat (operating under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India) as the technical training partner.

A dedicated cohort of 20 candidates has commenced this intensive, hands-on training program.

This program demonstrates how grassroots organizations, higher education institutions, and premier government skilling bodies can converge to deliver impactful vocational programs:
  • Rakta Sanjeevani (Project Facilitator & Anchor): Leveraging its institutional MoU with Nanda Nath Saikia College to identify, mobilize, and coordinate career-oriented training, acting as the operational bridge between community aspirations and technical partners.
  • Nanda Nath Saikia College (Academic & Venue Partner): Fulfilling its MoU commitments by hosting the program on campus, providing infrastructure, classroom facilities, and creating space for non-formal skilling within an academic setting.
  • Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), Jorhat (Technical & Skilling Partner): Collaborating closely with Rakta Sanjeevani to provide certified master trainers, standardized curriculum modules, hands-on toolkits, and government-recognized skill evaluation.

The wellness and personal grooming industry continues to expand across Assam’s semi-urban and rural markets, creating high demand for skilled professionals and neighborhood entrepreneurs. The hands-on curriculum is designed to transform candidates into confident practitioners through:
  • Foundational & Advanced Hair Techniques: Precision hair cutting, styling, shampooing, conditioning, scalp care treatments, and client consultation protocols.
  • Hygiene, Sterilization & Safety Protocols: Adherence to professional salon hygiene, safe chemical handling, and proper sterilization of tools and equipment.
  • Client Engagement & Service Ethics: Developing soft skills, client relationship management, and appointment handling.
  • Micro-Enterprise Incubation: Mentorship on setting up home-based grooming services, mobile salon units, small enterprise budgeting, pricing, and accessing micro-finance schemes.
